1. Saponified fatty acids were absent in fresh samples but present in adipocere thereof (0.6–14%) and similar to those in grave waxes.

2. A method for the production of conjugated linoleic acids is disclosed, whereby (a) low-weight alkyl esters of linoleic acid are isomerised in the presence of alkali alcoholates (b) the thus conjugated low weight alkyl esters of linoleic acid are saponified with water in the presence of alkaline liquor and (c) the saponified product is neutralised with phosphoric acid.

Vorgeschlagen wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von konjugierter Linolsäure, bei dem man (a) Linolsäureniedrigalkylester in Gegenwart von Alkalialkoholaten isomerisiert (b) die dann konjugierten Linolsäureniedrigalkylester in Gegenwart von Alkalilauge mit Wasser verseift und (c) das Verseifungsprodukt mit Phosphorsäure neutralisiert.

3. Since the usual alkalimetric finish of the analysis is not included, hydrobromic acid of higher concentration may be employed; this is a distinct advantage especially in the case of acetals and ketals that are difficult to saponify.

Da die übliche alkalimetrische Beendigung der Analyse unterbleibt, kann zur Hydrolyse Bromwasserstoffsäure höherer Konzentration benützt werden, was sich als Vorteil besonders bei schwer verseifbaren Acetalen und Ketalen auswirkt.
